My 8 year old beat me at Mario Kart last night and I'm still salty about it. Like I know I should let him win sometimes but also he's gotta learn that I'm the champion in this house. Pretty sure my wife thinks I'm insane for rage quitting with my own kid. Should I dial it back or keep the competitive spirit alive?
The salt is real. But honestly let them win sometimes. I learned that the hard way. They remember beating their dad at video games and feeling proud way more than they remember the times I crushed them.
This is hilarious because I know exactly the feeling but with board games. Lost at Catan to my oldest last month and I'm still convinced he cheated somehow. We know they didn't but the competitive dad brain refuses to accept it.

This is funny because I definitely got too competitive once. Now I just let them win sometimes and everyone's happier. You'll get over it, but also maybe let your kid have the bragging rights.

Dude I feel this in my soul. My 9 year old keeps beating me at NBA 2K and it messes with my head way more than it should. But honestly it's pretty cool watching them actually get better at something they care about.
My son just beat me at Madden and I had to sit with that for a while. It's a weird feeling man but also kind of awesome? Like they worked hard for that win.
