Anyone else getting back into fishing this year?

Thinking about taking the kids out to the lake next month. Haven't fished seriously in like 10 years but I miss it. Don't want to spend a ton on new gear since I'm rusty. What's a good beginner friendly setup that won't break the bank? Live in the midwest if that matters for what fish are actually around.

Getting back into fishing with the kids is the move. You don't need much to start, honestly. Hit up a local shop and ask what's good in your lake right now, they'll point you toward budget gear that works.

Love this plan. Ten years is a long time but muscle memory comes back fast. Your kids are gonna remember these days on the water way more than whatever gear you brought.
