Started letting my 9 year old play 2K24 against me on the weekends and now he's weirdly good. He's destroying me lately and talking trash. Its actually a lot of fun and quality time together even though he's better than me now. Who knew.
Ha, that's awesome. Nothing better than them thinking they're cooler than you at something. Wait till he's 12 though, the ego gets spicy. Just enjoy these moments while they still want to play with their old man.
This is peak dad energy right here. My oldest started doing this with Mario Kart and now it's a whole thing. The confidence boost they get from actually beating you is worth every trash talk comment he's gonna hit you with.
Same here with my two boys in Minneapolis. My 8 year old has legitimately beaten me multiple times now and it's both awesome and humbling. The trash talk is real.
Wait until he starts coaching you on your defensive strategy. That's when you know you've lost control of the situation.
Haha 45 minutes? That's impressive. My kid is still figuring out the controls but loves that we can actually compete now instead of me just letting him win all the time.

This is the dream right here. My kids are still too young for 2K but watching them get hyped about beating me at stuff is exactly why I wanted to be a dad. The trash talk phase is the best phase.
