Been going to the same lake for like 15 years and this is the first season where the water levels are just totally screwed. Haven't caught anything worth keeping in weeks. Buddy says we should try the reservoir about an hour north but I don't know, feels weird leaving the spot. What's everyone else doing about their regular spots being messed up?
That's really frustrating after 15 years. Have you asked other local fishermen if they're dealing with the same thing or if it's something specific to your spot? Might help figure out if it's temporary.
The drought situation has been brutal in a lot of areas. We had the same problem at our fishing hole two summers ago. It eventually came back but we hit up different lakes that year to keep the fishing going.
15 years is a long loyalty to one lake. This might be the push to explore some new spots? Could be an adventure to find a new favorite place with your kid if you fish with him.
Have you checked if they're doing anything to manage the water levels? Sometimes places will post updates if they know there's a problem. Might tell you if it's coming back soon.

That's disappointing man. I'd probably feel the same way about my regular spot drying up. Is there a backup lake within reasonable distance you could try this season?
