Anyone else suck at fishing but keep trying anyway

Took the boys fishing yesterday for like the 5th time this year. We've caught maybe 3 small bass total across all those trips. I don't even know if I'm doing it right. I watch YouTube videos and read stuff but there's something I'm missing. But here's the thing, my kids don't care that we're not catching anything. They just like being on the water with me. So I'll keep sucking at fishing as long as they want to come. Anyone else out there just doing it for the time together?

Three bass total? That's still winning in my book. At least you're getting the kids outside and they're learning something. The catching part is honestly secondary.

Fishing when you're bad at it is still better than not fishing at all. The fact that you keep trying is what your kids will remember. You could YouTube some tips on casting or where to find fish this time of year but honestly just being out there matters most.

Same man. We go to this lake like every other weekend and I swear the fish have learned to avoid my technique. But the boys don't care. They just like the snacks and hanging with dad. Keep at it.

The park has taught me that doing something together beats being good at it every single time. Keep taking those boys fishing, the memories stick way longer than the catch count.

Three bass across five trips is still three bass, brother. My flag football team taught me that showing up and trying is half the battle. The boys are learning way more than fishing on those trips anyway.

Three bass out of five trips? Dude that's not bad at all. Plus your boys are probably having the time of their lives just being out there with you. That's what fishing's really about anyway. Doesn't matter if you're not catching much.
