Backyard smoking setup is complete - been perfecting brisket all summer
Invested in a nice offset smoker back in May and I've been absolutely obsessed. Read the manuals, watched channels, experimented with wood types and temps. Made a terrible brisket in June, a decent one in July, and last weekend I nailed it. Brought some to a family bbq and people actually asked for the recipe. This hobby has given me so much pride and my family gets great food. Can't recommend it enough.
Brisket is the ultimate dad hobby because it requires patience, research, and you get rewarded with actual food everyone loves. Been smoking for three years now and I'm still learning new things.
Offset smokers are serious business. The fact that you read the manuals before jumping in shows you respect the craft. Most guys just wing it and wonder why their meat turns out dry.
