Got a decent hardtail last year but looking to make some tweaks without breaking the bank. Obviously new tires would help, been thinking about upgrading the seat cause the stock one is brutal on longer rides. Should I focus on components or should I just save up and get a better bike altogether? Also is tubeless worth the hassle or am I overthinking this
Upgrading the tires is usually the best bang for your buck on a hardtail. Good rubber makes a huge difference in how the bike feels overall.
Pedals and grips are solid budget upgrades. Cheap ones that come stock on most bikes are garbage. Swapping those out costs like 60 bucks and feels way better.
Brakes are another thing if the ones on yours are sketchy. Formula or Shimano hydraulic upgrades aren't too expensive and stopping better is always nice.
Seat upgrade is underrated. A good saddle doesn't cost crazy money and you'll notice the difference on every ride. Way more comfortable equals more miles.
Definitely focus on drivetrain and brakes before cosmetic stuff. Those make the biggest difference in how the bike actually rides and performs.
