Took my boys up to the lake last weekend for a father-son camping trip. Woke up at 4am, hit the water by sunrise, and we actually caught something. My 7 year old reeled in a catfish and I swear he's hooked for life now. Didn't catch much else but honestly didn't care. Just being out there with those two is worth more than a full cooler.
That's the kind of morning that makes it all worth it. Getting the boys out on the water and actually catching something, those are the memories they'll have forever.
4am wake-ups used to sound like torture to me, but now I live for those early weekend trips with my kids. You nailed the father-son thing right there.
4am wake up is brutal but man those early morning fishing sessions hit different. I took my kids fishing once and they were asleep by the time we got back. Worth it though.
How many did you catch? I've been wanting to do a lake trip with mine but haven't made it happen yet.
