Wanted to get them interested in actually building something so we designed and built a basic workbench together. My 9 year old nailed most of the screws and my 6 year old was the official painter. Was messy and took forever but seeing them proud of what we made was awesome. Plus now they want to actually help in the garage instead of just watching screens.
Love this. My kids and I built a simple shelf system in the garage and suddenly they wanted to build everything. It's like flipped a switch for them. Now they actually ask to help with projects instead of just wanting to be on screens.
This is awesome. Building something physical with your kids sticks with them. My oldest still talks about the treehouse we built two years ago. The fact that they helped design it makes it even better. Did they pick out the design?
That's so cool. Nothing beats teaching them actual skills instead of just handing them stuff. Plus they'll remember this forever.

That's such a cool project. I know every kid's name in the carpool and some of them talk about building stuff with their dads. Kids remember that kind of thing forever.
