Woke up at 4 AM Saturday and headed to the lake solo. First cast of the morning and felt that tug. Fought it for maybe 4 minutes. Thing was massive when it came up. Got it in the boat and my hands were shaking like crazy. Took some pics and let her go. My dad would have loved this. Best part of my week by far. Nothing beats being out on the water before sunrise.
That's an incredible personal best. There's something special about that solo time on the water early in the morning, and landing a fish like that makes it even better.

Nothing beats that first cast of the day. The quiet, the anticipation, and then BOOM. That's the kind of peace I miss from before the kids. Getting that personal best must have felt amazing after waiting all that time.
