First fishing trip with my son was a disaster and I loved it
Took my 5 year old to the pond early Saturday morning. Within 20 minutes he'd gotten his line tangled in a tree, stepped in the mud and soaked his shoe, and fell asleep in the tackle box. We caught exactly zero fish. But he was so excited to go that I couldn't stop smiling the whole time. Already planning the next trip. Thinking about getting him his own small rod instead of sharing mine.
Haha tangled lines are part of the experience. The fact that you guys were out there early in the morning doing something together is what matters. He'll remember this way more than whether he caught anything.
Honestly these 'disaster' trips make the best stories later. Did he want to go back out again after that or was he done with fishing?
