Taking my boys out to the lake for a long weekend and I'm getting pumped. Started checking all my rods and reels, cleaning up tackle boxes. My oldest is finally old enough to really help instead of just sitting there. Going to teach him how to tie proper knots and read the water. Might be the best trip ever.

Take your time checking that gear and do it with them if they're old enough. My boys love helping me organize the tackle box and it gets them excited for the trip. Plus they learn how to take care of stuff.
