Fishing trip this weekend, need advice

Taking my 8 year old out to the lake for his first real fishing trip. Anyone else taken their kids fishing? What should I bring? I'm worried about him getting bored or frustrated if we don't catch anything. Want to make it a good memory but don't want to mess it up.

First fishing trip is such a cool memory to make. Make sure you've got sunscreen and maybe some small rewards for when he catches something, keeps the excitement going.

Dude, take him fishing, it's awesome. Bring snacks, a patient attitude, and honestly just enjoy hanging out with him on the water. The fishing part matters way less than the time together.
