Fishing trips are my mental health
I try to get out to the lake at least twice a month, just me and my truck. Nothing serious, usually don't catch much. But something about being on the water early in the morning where it's quiet and I'm not thinking about bills or work or if I'm screwing up as a dad helps me reset. My wife gets it now. She used to think I was being selfish but she realized I come home way better at everything when I get those trips in.
Fishing is such a good mental reset. I do something similar but with coaching - those hours on the field with the kids are when I feel most like myself. Do you ever take your kids with you or is it more for the solo time?
