Got back into fishing after 15 years

Took my 8 year old to a local pond last weekend and caught our first catfish together. He was so excited. Going to make this a regular thing. Looking for recommendations on decent beginner gear that won't break the bank for when I take him and his little brother.

That's awesome man! Getting them hooked on fishing early is the best move. My kids still talk about the first fish they caught years ago, those memories stick with them forever.
