Hit 65 degrees yesterday and I fired up the smoker for the first time since October. Smoked a brisket for 14 hours. Was it perfect? No. Did the kids eat it anyway? Also no. But I had a beer in the sun for an afternoon and that's basically a win.
14 hours on a brisket is dedication. Perfect or not, the kids being excited about it is the real win here.
Getting the smoker going and having the kids gathered around is peak backyard parenting. That's the good stuff right there.
There's nothing better than firing up the smoker for the first time in months. Even if it's not perfect, you're building memories and that's what counts.
65 degrees and the smoker comes out! I'm jealous. Nothing beats that first brisket of the year. How many hours did you put on it?
Okay but did you do a rub or go with a dry cure? I've been debating my approach for the season and need some intel.
