Grilling season is here and my new smoker arrived

Bought a Traeger pellet smoker and I'm way too excited about it. Already planning my first brisket. My 8 year old wants to help which is actually pretty cool. Anyone got recommendations for starting out? I've done charcoal grilling forever but smoking is new territory for me.

Dude, that's awesome! Getting your kid involved in the cooking is clutch. My 8 year old loves helping with the grill too, makes it way more fun even if it takes twice as long.

That's the dream right there. My kids beg to help with anything cooking related, so lean into it. Just a heads up though, the brisket is gonna take all day so budget accordingly. Totally worth it though.

Traeger gang! Those pellet smokers are game changers, especially when you've got little ones wanting to hang out while you cook. Fair warning though, you're about to spend a lot of weekend time out there.
