Joined a fishing league and it's my sanity check

I fish every Saturday morning from 5am to noon with the same 4 guys. It's out of the house before the kids wake up and I'm back before lunch. My wife thinks I'm insane for waking up that early but honestly those 7 hours are the only time I'm not thinking about work or dad stuff or the house. We dont even catch that much but nobody cares. Its the same guys every week, we know each other's problems, we solve nothing and everything at the same time. Best money I spend every month.

This is what I'm trying to build right now. Having something that's just for you, early morning before the house wakes up, surrounded by people who get it. That's not selfish, that's necessary. Seven hours is the perfect amount of time.

Fishing at 5am sounds like the perfect reset button. Before the kids wake up and all the day chaos starts. Getting out on the water with the same crew every week must give you some serious mental clarity.
