Just finished my first saltwater fishing trip and I'm hooked

Took the kids out on a charter boat yesterday and we caught so much. Lost count after we got like 15 mackerel. My oldest actually stayed interested the whole time instead of complaining which was huge. I'm already looking at buying a real fishing rod setup instead of just using stuff from Walmart. This might be my new thing, the peace and quiet on the water is incredible. Anyone here do saltwater fishing regularly? What gear should I invest in?

15 fish is insane! What kind were you catching? I'm in Phoenix so saltwater trips aren't really an option for us, but I'm jealous of the Florida and coastal guys who can do this with their families.

That's awesome! My 8 month old is still too little but I'm already dreaming about taking him out on the water like that someday. Did the kids actually enjoy it or were they freaked out by being on the boat?

This is the kind of memory that sticks with kids forever. Nice work getting them out there and away from screens. Did you do anything with the fish afterward or was it mainly about the experience?
