Man cave update and wife approval

After months of negotiation I finally got permission to set up a proper man cave in the basement. Got an old couch from a buddy, some shelving for my collection, and a decent sound system. It's nothing crazy just a space where I can watch games, tinker with projects, and not be in everyone's way for a couple hours on the weekend. Wife surprised me by hanging a nice rug down there and even helped me pick out some artwork. Moral of the story: involve your wife in the decision and she'll actually get excited about your hobby space instead of resenting it.

The basement man cave is legendary. Fair warning though, once you set it up and she sees you're actually spending time down there relaxing instead of just disappearing, she'll probably appreciate it more. It becomes a safety valve.

This is huge. My wife was skeptical too until she realized it meant I had a place to decompress that wasn't just sitting in the garage. Now she actually encourages it because she gets some peace and quiet upstairs.

Congrats on the win! Months of negotiation is no joke. What did you end up doing to get her on board? I've been thinking about a similar setup but haven't figured out how to pitch it without the eye roll.
