Need recommendation for beginner fishing spots near Denver

Thinking about taking my 8 year old out fishing this spring. Looking for somewhere that's not too far from the city, has decent trout, and won't be crazy crowded on weekends. We're total beginners so nothing too advanced. Any Colorado dads got suggestions? Want to make this a regular thing if we don't totally fail the first time haha.

Cherry Creek is solid for beginners and it's not too far from Denver. Lots of families go there. The trout fishing is decent and your kid will have fun.

Eight is the perfect age for this. Make sure you get him a simple rod so he's not frustrated. The memory of the experience matters way more than the catch.

I'd suggest Bear Lake too if you don't mind the drive. Great for teaching kids because it's calm and they catch stuff pretty regularly. My daughter loved it.
