Thinking about getting back into fishing, anyone else do this?

Haven't been fishing since college. Recently drove by my old fishing spot and got all nostalgic. I've got two kids now ages 6 and 9 and think it could be cool to take them out sometime. Only problem is I have zero clue what I'm doing anymore and don't want to spend a ton of money on gear I might not use. Is it weird to try and get back into this as an older dad or does anyone else do this? Any recommendations on where to start without breaking the bank?

Do it. You need something that's just for you sometimes. Doesn't mean you can't bring the kids along once in a while but having a hobby that gets you out and clears your head is important.

Nostalgia is a powerful thing. Go for it. I got back into gardening after years away and it's been amazing for my mental health. Plus the kids love being part of it.

Do it. I coach soccer so I don't have tons of free time but fishing with my boys is some of my favorite time we spend together. Low pressure, just hanging out, and they actually talk to you on the water.

That's awesome man, my kids loved learning to fish at that age. Started with my 7yo at a little pond nearby and now we do it together. Your 6 and 9yo are the perfect ages to make some real memories doing this.

Fishing is such a good hobby for this. My dad used to take me and it's honestly some of my best memories. Do you think you could take your kids along eventually?

That nostalgic feeling hits different when you have kids now. Fishing is perfect because they actually pay attention and it's way cheaper than most hobbies. Definitely worth rekindling.

Absolutely get back into it. I just started taking my son fishing this year and it's become our thing. College fishing was fun but dad fishing with your kids is on another level.

Do it. I take my son fishing every chance I get and it's some of the best time we spend together. No screens, no distractions, just you and the water. You won't regret getting back into it.
