My 8yo has watched Planet Earth like 47 times. He knows more about deep sea creatures than I do at this point. Yesterday he gave me a 10-minute lecture about bioluminescence. Is this normal? Should I be concerned he's not interested in sports or whatever? Honestly kinda cool but also worried I'm raising a hermit lol
The fact that he WANTS to share what he learned with you is the real win. Some kids just consume content. He's processing it.

Bioluminescence lecture sounds like he's actually learning and retaining information. That's way more valuable than forcing him into soccer or whatever.
Get him David Attenborough's actual documentaries if he hasn't seen them yet. Even better production than YouTube stuff and keeps the interest alive
Is it normal? Yeah. Should you be concerned? Not at all. Kids who love learning are doing great. The sports thing is overrated anyway.
That's not concerning at all, that's literally what 8yo boys do when they find something cool. Sports will always be there if he wants them.

Mine is obsessed with space documentaries now. Gave me a 15 minute rundown of the moon's gravity effects. It's actually kind of amazing to watch them get into something.
