Best parenting moment of my life just happened

My 5yo walked up to a kid at the playground who was sitting alone and asked if he wanted to play. Spent the next hour with this new friend building the most elaborate sand castle you've ever seen. When we were leaving he hugged the kid goodbye and said "I'm really happy I met you." I wasn't crying you're crying. This little dude might actually be turning into a genuinely good human and somehow my wife and I are doing something right.

That moment right there is worth more than any sports trophy or achievement. Your 5yo just showed real character. He saw someone who needed a friend and he became that friend. That's everything.
Beautiful. Genuinely. Those moments where you realize your kid is developing actual compassion and social awareness without you standing over them making it happen? That's peak parenting. How did the other kid react?
