My 7yo has gotten to the age where he actually laughs at my jokes now instead of groaning. Yesterday I hit him with "Why don't scientists trust atoms? Because they make up everything!" and he lost it for like 5 minutes.

Wait until he's a teenager and he's back to rolling his eyes at everything you say. Enjoy this window while it lasts because it doesn't last long.
This is literally the only validation I need as a parent. Could not care less about anything else at this point.
That's the sweet spot right there. My 8yo is finally at the age where dad jokes actually land. It's one of the best parts of parenting so far honestly.
