She's 8 and doesn't usually say sappy stuff. We were just hanging out building legos and she said it completely casual like it was the most obvious thing. I'm gonna ride this high for like a week. Already told my coworkers about it which I know is lame but I don't care.

This right here is why we do this job. Those moments make up for all the chaos and exhaustion. Did you tell her she's the best daughter in the world back?

That hits different when they're old enough to actually say it and mean it. Enjoy that feeling because they don't hand out compliments like that very often at that age.

Man that's the stuff right there. Those unexpected moments mean everything. Building Legos and just being present together, that's when the good stuff happens. Eight is such a cool age.
