Feeling pretty good about how my kids handled losing a sports game
Both kids played in a tournament last weekend. Lost their matches. Expected meltdowns, tears, the whole thing. Instead my 8yo said "I played pretty good though right dad?" and my 6yo asked if we could work on one specific skill to get better.
I didn't raise them to be competitive demons. But I also didn't lecture them about "it's not about winning." Somehow they just... got it. My ex (their mom) said she was impressed too which felt really good ngl
Your kids sound genuinely awesome. Did you do anything specific to prep them for losing, or was it just luck of the draw with their temperament?
