Was in line with my two kids and my oldest was getting a little cranky about not getting candy. Instead of giving in, we talked about it and I explained why we weren't buying it. He understood and moved on. Woman behind us said she was impressed with how I handled it. Made my whole week honestly. Sometimes you don't realize you're doing something right until someone tells you.
That's awesome man. The candy thing is a test and you nailed it. We're doing 1000 piece puzzles and those conversations happen there too, sounds like your kids are learning patience the right way.
Three under five here so I'm still in the trenches, but that parenting moment right there is exactly what people notice. Teaching them no isn't easy but it's the real win.
