Got my 10yo interested in actual books and I don't know what to do

This kid has been a screen zombie for like 2 years. Two weeks ago my wife grabbed the Percy Jackson series off the shelf and just left it on the couch. He grabbed it out of boredom and... he's DEVOURING them. We're on book 3. He reads at breakfast, after school, instead of Roblox. I keep waiting for it to wear off but it hasn't. Do I do anything or just let it happen? This feels too good to be true.

This is such a win. Screen zombies can come back from it but you gotta strike while the iron is hot. Get him to the library and let HIM pick out more books.

Dude that's huge! Percy Jackson is a gateway drug for real readers. My 9yo tore through that series in like two months. Let him pick the next one though, don't push too hard.

Honestly just get out of the way and let it happen. The fact that he's actually reading is the victory. Don't overthink it.

My kid was the same way until we found the right series. Now she reads instead of asking for tablet time. Basically just encourage it and don't make it feel like homework.

Just keep feeding him books in the same vein honestly. If Percy Jackson hooked him then he likes adventure and mythology. That's your template right there.
