Got them to put the phones down for an entire dinner

Made a rule last week that phones stay in the kitchen during meals. Thought there'd be mutiny but we actually had some decent conversations. My teenager even laughed at one of my jokes which felt like winning the lottery. Doing it again tonight.

This is amazing. We tried something similar and it actually worked way better than I expected. Kids complained for like two days then got over it. Now family dinner is actually quality time instead of everyone staring at screens.

That's the kind of parenting move that actually sticks. We started doing the same thing and it's created way more conversation at the dinner table. Kids actually talk to each other now instead of just texting.

Nice win. My boys would probably stage a revolt but I might steal this rule. How old are your kids? I'm curious if this works better with certain ages.
