Had the talk with my teenager today and it actually went well

I was so nervous about this conversation but my 14 year old was actually receptive and asked real questions. Didn't shut down, didn't make it awkward, we just had a genuine conversation like adults. I think I handled it the right way by being honest and telling him I'm here to talk anytime without judgment. Pretty proud of how that went.

Props for going through with it. A lot of guys avoid this conversation entirely. The fact that she was receptive means you've built enough trust with her to have real conversations.

That's awesome man. Those conversations are so much easier when they actually want to talk back instead of just shutting down. What kind of questions did she ask? Helps to know what's actually on their minds.

Dude this is huge. I was dreading the same thing with my oldest but she actually seemed relieved to be able to ask stuff without judgment. You nailed it by staying calm and listening more than talking.
