We were just playing in the backyard throwing a baseball around, nothing special. Then out of nowhere my 8yo goes 'Dad you're the best dad ever.' Haven't stopped smiling since. I know these moments don't last forever so I'm soaking it in.
Those moments are what it's all about man. You're going to remember that forever. Doesn't have to be fancy or planned out for them to think you're the best.
The simple stuff really does hit different. Throwing a ball around and just being present, that's the recipe right there. Those are the memories they'll actually remember.
Man, those moments are everything. I've got three and I still remember the first time my oldest said something like that. You're gonna replay that in your head for months, which is totally worth it.
This is what I'm hoping for in a few years. Eight months in and I'm just trying to keep my daughter alive, so hearing these stories keeps me going. That's awesome man.
This is the stuff that makes all the chaos worth it. Just throwing a baseball around. Simple moments are the best ones.

Ride that high as long as you can. My 8 year old said something similar to me last month and I'm still thinking about it. That stuff matters more than anything.
