We were at the arcade and I beat him at skee-ball (fair and square, he's not let me live it down) and he just said it. IN PUBLIC. Before the pre-teen years started I thought this was the end of being cool to him. Maybe there's hope yet.
This is what people miss about the preteen years. Yeah, they're harder, but you get moments where they actually see you as cool instead of just the guy who makes them eat vegetables. It's earned respect
Don't let him forget you beat him though. That's currency you can use forever lol. Whenever he gets too confident about something you just gotta casually mention the skee-ball incident
lmaooo the public acknowledgment hits different. My 12yo will say stuff like this at home but the second friends are around he's back to 'my dad is embarrassing'
