Been working with him all summer. So many falls, so many tears (mine and his). Today he just took off and I let go and he WENT. Made it all the way down the driveway without eating pavement. The smile on his face man. Called his mom at work to tell her before I could even get him inside. Best parenting moment so far.
Dude congrats! My 5yo is right there with the training wheels now. Your post just gave me hope that we'll get through this phase soon. The falls are real but sounds like it pays off.
This is huge! Bet you got some great ice cream in celebration after that. That's the kind of day you remember as a dad.
That's awesome man! Those summer training wheel sessions are brutal but so worth it. Nothing beats that moment when you realize they've got it and you can finally let go.
That's huge! The training wheels coming off is such a milestone. I remember the exact moment my oldest finally got it - you just stand there holding your breath waiting for the crash that doesn't come. Congrats to your son!

Man this is what I'm dreading with my twins right now. They're getting to that age where they want to try everything. How many times did he fall before it clicked?
