Dude I'm still shaking. We've been working on this for like 3 months and today he just took off down the driveway. Went a solid 50 feet before he chickened out but he RODE. My wife was filming and I was just standing there grinning like an idiot. He wants to practice every day now. This is the best.
The no training wheels moment is peak parenting. All those falls and frustrated tears just gone. Now he's gone and you're just standing there like 'wait, you can actually do this now?' Get that on video if you haven't already.
This is the best kind of dad win. Not the manufactured stuff, just pure skill development and confidence. How fast was he going down that hill?
Three months is a long time to be patient with that. Most kids get there faster but the ones who take time seem to nail it harder. That shaking feeling will stick with you too.
