My 6 year old told me I'm his hero
I wasn't doing anything special, just helping him build a Lego set that was actually within his abilities. He looked up and said 'Dad you're my hero because you help me with hard stuff.' Man I was not prepared for that today. Kids are wild. He's asleep now and I'm just sitting here appreciating this phase before he thinks I'm uncool.
Those moments hit different. The Lego thing is perfect because you're not solving it for him you're just helping him work through it. That's real fatherhood right there.
