My 6yo finally tied his own shoes

Been working on this for like 6 months. Today he just did it without asking for help. Stood there watching him struggle with the loops for a solid 2 minutes and didn't jump in. When he pulled that knot tight I literally teared up a little. Small victory but man it felt huge.

That's huge! Six months of patience paying off is such a good feeling. There's something special about watching them nail a life skill they've been working toward.

This is one of my favorite dad moments too. My oldest just started doing her own shoelaces last month and I literally felt proud for like a week straight. Little wins that are actually big wins.

Just wait, next thing he'll be tying everyone else's shoes without being asked. That independence kicks in fast after they get one skill down.
