My daughter read her first book today without any help

I know this is probably a normal thing for most 6 year olds but I literally got emotional watching her sit down and read the entire Dr Seuss book out loud. No pointing at words asking what they were. Just reading. When did this happen?? I feel like she was just learning her ABCs and now she's a reader. My wife came in the room and I'm like standing there grinning like an idiot.

Man, that's awesome! My 6yo just got to that point too and it's wild watching them sound out words and realize they can actually do it themselves.

We just had this moment a couple months ago and yeah, it hits different when it's your kid reading their first book. Totally normal to get emotional about that.

Getting emotional over that is exactly right. That's a huge milestone and you were there to see it happen, that's what matters.
