My daughter threw a fit at the store and I handled it like a boss
She wanted a toy I wasn't buying. Instead of giving in or losing my cool, I got down to her level, let her have her feelings for like 30 seconds, then asked her what we were actually here for. She snapped out of it and helped me find the stuff on our list. Some lady in the aisle actually told me I handled that great. First time I've felt like maybe I'm doing this right.
Getting down to her level is the move. I do the same thing and it works because they feel heard instead of just shut down. Glad you stayed calm, that's the hardest part.
