My kid called me out for yelling and I deserved it
Was having a rough morning, late for work, and I snapped at my 6yo for spilling juice. He got quiet and then said 'dad why are you being mean?' Completely stopped me in my tracks. Apologized to him, gave him a hug, and actually had a real conversation about why daddy was frustrated. He understood. Then he said 'its ok, everyone makes mistakes.' Out of the mouths of babes man. Best parenting lesson I got all year from my own kid.
That's some real character coming from a 6-year-old. It's rough in the moment but shows he trusts you and that you've created an environment where he feels safe saying something. Props for taking it the right way.
