Coming home from work yesterday and my 8yo just said 'dad you're a good dad' completely out of nowhere. Didn't need anything, wasn't asking for anything, just said it. Had to sit in my car for a minute before going in. Those kinds of moments make all the tough days worth it.
This is gold. Out of nowhere is the best kind too because you know they actually mean it. They're not fishing for something.
That's pure gold. My 8yo and 5yo have said some wild stuff but nothing beats when they actually acknowledge you're doing okay. Enjoy that win!
Man, that's the stuff right there. Those unprompted compliments hit different than anything else. Sounds like you're doing something right, congrats!
Those moments are what it's all about. I'm still chasing my first one of those but posts like this give me hope that I'm heading in the right direction.

Those moments hit different man. My 7yo said something similar last month and I literally almost cried in the kitchen. Makes all the long days worth it.
That's the stuff that matters. Not out of nowhere either, kids know when you're showing up for them.
