My kid's teacher called to say something good

Literally jumped when I saw the school number on my phone because usually its not great news. Turns out my oldest has been showing real improvement in his reading and helping other kids in the class. Teacher said he's developed into a real leader in the classroom. Got off the phone and immediately wanted to tell someone because this is the stuff that matters. We're taking him to his favorite restaurant this weekend to celebrate.

Those calls are rare but they hit the best. Makes all the homework battles and bedtime routines feel worth it. What did the teacher say?

This hits different as a new dad. Right now I'm braced for every school call to be a problem. Happy to know there are good news calls coming down the line.

The plot twist when it's actually good news is the best feeling. That's when you realize your kid is doing something right and the school notices it too.
