My kid stood up to a bully today and I've never been more proud

Got a call from the school that my 9 year old got in a bit of trouble but when I asked what happened, turns out some kid was picking on a smaller kid and my son told the bully to knock it off. They got sent to the principal but the principal actually thanked me and said my kid did the right thing. He defended someone who couldn't defend himself. That's the kind of man I'm trying to raise and he actually did it. Took him out for ice cream after school and let him pick whatever he wanted. So proud I could burst.

The fact that he stood up for what's right even though it got him in trouble shows the real win here. That's character. The school will understand that he was defending himself or someone else. You've raised a good kid.

That's the kind of trouble I want my kids getting into. Standing up for someone smaller takes real courage at that age. You're raising him right.

This is awesome. My daughter's getting to that age and I hope she'd do the same thing. The school should be handing out medals instead of calling parents about kids who do the right thing.

Standing up to bullying takes guts, especially at 9 years old. Whatever the consequences are, make sure he knows you're on his side. That's the lesson that sticks with them.
