My teenager actually asked for advice

This might sound small but my 16yo came to me today with a situation going on with his friends and actually asked what I thought he should do. Like genuinely wanted my input. We talked it through for a bit and he seemed to appreciate it. Usually he acts like I'm the most annoying person on the planet so this felt like a win. Just wanted to celebrate that he still values my opinion even if he doesn't always show it.

This is what all the early parenting pays off for. Keep showing up for those moments because they won't last forever. My oldest is 18 now and those conversations got less frequent right around 17, so cherish this phase.

That's huge actually. Sixteen year olds usually just grunt at you or disappear into their room. When they come to you for advice it means they trust you and that's worth celebrating. What was the situation about?
