She had a problem with a friend at school and instead of just venting to her mom, she asked if we could talk about it over lunch. We went to her favorite place and she actually listened when I was talking instead of just waiting for me to finish. Felt like a legitimate win in the parenting game.
This is what I'm hoping for down the line. Right now my little one just needs me for snacks and diaper changes, but moments like this are why we do this whole dad thing.
Congrats on building that trust with her. Between work and juggling four kids' schedules, I try to make those one-on-one lunch moments count because they don't happen often enough.
