Question: Best age gap for second kid?

We have a 3yo and are considering trying for another. I keep getting wildly different opinions from people. Some say 2 years apart is ideal, some say wait until 4+, some say it doesn't matter. What's been your experience? Any regrets about the spacing you chose? Currently leaning toward waiting til our oldest is closer to 5 but I honestly have no idea if that's smart or if we're overthinking it.

We did 2.5 years between ours and honestly it was perfect. Old enough that the first one could kind of understand what was happening but still young enough they're close in age for activities. My wife felt way more recovered too which made a huge difference.

Honestly the 'best' age gap is whatever works for YOUR family situation, not what works for your neighbor. If you're healthy and your wife's health is good, the gap matters less than you think it does.

The real talk nobody gives you is that the first year after the second kid is HARD no matter what gap you choose. Just accept that and plan around it with childcare or family help.

Everyone told us to wait longer but we went for it at 2 years apart and no regrets. Yeah the newborn phase was chaotic with a toddler running around but they play together now which is amazing.

4 year gap here. Oldest was way more independent when baby 2 arrived and honestly that made everything easier. Less diaper duty overlap too if that's a factor for you.
