Quick question: when do they stop needing help wiping at school?

My 5yo is in kindergarten now and the teacher said he still needs reminders about bathroom stuff. We've been working on independence at home but idk if this is normal or if I should be doing more? Don't want to feel like I'm behind but also don't want to push too hard.

Kindergarten wiping help is totally normal. Kids that age still need reminders. Teacher probably just letting you know he's not doing it independently yet, not saying you're failing.

The fact that you're thinking about it and working on it at home means you're already doing the right thing. Don't push hard, just consistency.

Real talk: they should be getting close to independent by end of kindergarten but some kids aren't there yet and it's FINE. Keep practicing at home, trust the process.

You're not behind. Every kid hits that milestone on their own timeline. We were paranoid about the same thing - turns out he just needed another 6 months of maturity. No intervention needed, he just got it one day.
