Just dropped $200 on a baseball glove, cleats, and pants for my 8yo's fall league. THE KID'S FEET ARE STILL GROWING. He'll be in size 4s for like 6 months tops. I get that quality matters but good lord. And don't even get me started on the team fees. Anyone else just feel like we're throwing money into a black hole every season?
Wait until he wants to pitch. Then you're looking at an extra glove, wrist guards, the works. Sports parents are basically required to just accept bleeding money every fall and spring.
This is why I told my kids they each get ONE sport per season and they're picking it. Spreading across multiple sports is a second mortgage situation.
Have you checked if any other parents in the league are selling used gear? Our group chat is basically a resale marketplace at this point. Saved me probably $300 last year on stuff the older kids were done with.
Sports equipment prices are insane now. My 7yo's soccer stuff came to like $150 and he's already outgrowing the cleats. I just accepted this is my life now and started buying from Play It Again if they have one near you.
200 bucks isn't even that bad for a legit baseball set honestly. Could've been worse. The real ripoff is when the league throws in mandatory team pictures and concession markups that cost more than the actual sports stuff.

The growth thing is brutal with baseball especially. Quality glove can cost a fortune and yeah the kid will grow out of the pants in 6 months. No good answers but checking out secondhand options between seasons might save you a bit.
