Should we let our 10yo stay up for the solar eclipse?
It's happening next month and he's seen the hype online. He's asking if he can stay up to watch the livestream or whatever. Normally he's in bed by 9 but this feels like one of those 'remember when dad let us stay up for the eclipse?' memories. Mrs thinks it's a dumb reason to break bedtime routine. What's the dad consensus here? Am I being sentimental or is this actually worth it?
Do it. I let my kids stay up for a meteor shower when they were around that age and they still talk about it 5 years later. That's the stuff they'll remember, not one bedtime.
Just make sure you actually check the weather forecast lol. Last eclipse around us was totally clouded over and my son was devastated. Would've been even worse at that hour.
