Took my kids camping solo for the first time and we didn't burn down the forest

5yo and 8yo. My wife was skeptical but I wanted to prove I could handle it. We went to this spot near Bend, Oregon. Cooked hot dogs, told ghost stories, one kid peed in a bush instead of using the toilet tent (not naming names), and we all slept in one massive pile of sleeping bags bc the 5yo was "scared of bears."

We DID forget the lantern and had to navigate by phone flashlight. We DID get the tent set up wrong. We DID eat cereal for one meal instead of cooking. But honestly? Best weekend I've had in years. Everyone wants to go back next month.
